Welcome to my very first unboxing, voracious readers! You may not know this about me, but I am a minimalist and tend to avoid subscription boxes like this because the few knick knacks that I own I would rather curate myself. However when I saw this special and limited edition box advertised it was as if I had an out of body experience; I grabbed my credit card and had checked out before I really realized what I was doing. The most embarrassing part of this whole situation is that while I have an eBook of VICIOUS, I hadn’t read it yet. I literally started reading it on Monday with Jen (loving it so far!). This is capitalism at its finest and consumerism at its worst.
Considering my general stance on clutter and being a minimalist, you may be wondering what I am going to do with these items. I am getting close to 500 WordPress subscribers and I’m actually saving most of the box contents for a future giveaway to celebrate when I hit that milestone!
Without further ado, let’s get into the unboxing, shall we?
For those of you that don’t want to listen to my voice as I pull out each individual item from the box, here is a list of the contents and pictures!
Victor and Eli candles from Wick and Fable to show your allegiance. Whose side are you on?
The candles have interesting scents: Eli’s smells fruity almost and Victor’s I am just not sure.
A pillowcase with the Vicious quote “Plenty of humans were monstrous and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human.” The pillowcase was designed by Stellar Bookish art, and according to the spoiler card the imagery is inspired by Victor and Eli’s days at university.
This lovely print and pin of Eli and Victor was designed by Melanie Bourgeoisn of Melie’s Scribbles! She also designed the bookmark below which features Sydney, Dol, and Marcella.
I think my favorite item in the box is by far the hardcover notebook inspired by Victor’s blackout poetry! The text says “You asked me if I ever wanted to believe in something. I do. I want to believe in this. I want to believe that there’s more. That we could be more. Hell, we could be heroes.” The cover was designed by Hey Atlas Creative.
My second favorite item are these awesome exclusive socks, which features artwork from the newly redesigned cover of Vicious. Cover artwork by Wil Staehle and the socked were designed with help from Michelle Gray.
I’ll be honest that the main reason that I ordered the box was that I wanted one of the limited first edition printing. I am just a sucker for special editions. My copy is #290 out of 1,200 and is also signed by Victoria. You can see all of the items together in the photo below (including the chapstick that I didn’t think needed am individual picture for). What’s your favorite item in the box?
Well that is all I have for you today on this unplanned and bonus blog post! What do you think? Like I said before I don’t tend to subscribe to boxes like this, but I might in the future if the theme sounds interesting enough and it is a book that I want. (I subscribe to a book-only monthly service from Mysterious Galaxy, and indie bookstore in San Diego.) Would you want more unboxings in the future? What is your favorite subscription box?
