September Book Haul 2018

You may be thinking to yourself, “Kaleena is doing a book haul post? Isn’t she a paragon of self control and on a book ban?” You’re not wrong, but this is also me calling myself out. I, uh, went a little overboard with book buying in September and the book ban has ended because I think it has made my book buying addiction stronger. Expect a discussion post on this topic sometime in the near future.

In the meantime, I wanted to share with you the lovely books that I’ve added to my TBR Tower of DOOM! Most of these I am proud to say are on my TBR for October because I am mood reading and most of these are spooky reads. Huzzah!

The Haul

October 18 book haul

  • Vengeful (Villains #2) by V.E. Schwab (OwlCrate Limited Edition Vegeneful box)
  • Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer (Mysterious Galaxy Fantastic Firsts subscription)
  • Sadie by Courtney Summers
  • The Hazel Wood bby Melissa Albert
  • Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda
  • The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
  • This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada
  • The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen
  • The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

My best friend went to a talk and signing with Somaiya Daud and Kiersten White at Mysterious Galaxy back home in San Diego and got me personalized copies of Mirage (read my ARC review here!) and Bright We Burn!

Through the Hostage by JC Steel was sent to me by Ryder Author Resources for review, and I am REALLY EXCITED about this one because the email that Shannon sent me pitched this book as hard science fiction with a miiltary bent and she said “first, you like science fiction; second, you enjoy anti-heroes; and finally, you like Battlestar Galactica. Given the book I’m representing, it’d be hard to find a more ideal reviewer :)”

That’s it for the books that I hauled in October! Are any of these on your TBRs, or have you read them? I’d love to hear your thoughts about them!

  1. Nice haul!
That hostage one sounds cool, if it really is true to the description you were given 😊
Sadie is on my list too, but haven’t bought the book yet.
This Mortal Coil too. I saw the sequel is coming soon as well. 😃

    1. I am really excited about Hostage because of the way it was pitched to me! I hope it is accurate!

Starting Sadie tonight, and yea I am excited to read This Mortal Coil hopefully in time to pre-order the sequel if I like the series as much as I am expecting!

    1. Thank you so much, Tammy… and I feel like this was essentially the adult version of the Scholastic Book Fair. And I am okay with that! Because books make me happy and I want to have a library anyways. I just need to be better about READING what I buy.

  2. But, Kaleena, collecting all the books is a GOOD thing. Maybe not good for your wallet but with all the pretty books you got throughout the month, you’re on the way to a Belle sized library! 😜

I’m on a book buying ban as well but I just realized I purchased an entire series on sale. 🙈
