The Bookish Adventure Tag

I'm going on an adventure!

Friends, I like going on adventures a lot. Whether it’s traveling to another country or curling up with my favorite fantasy book, I love experiencing new things. Which is why I am such a fan of stories that involve an epic adventure, and precisely when I love this tag so much that I had to ignore the hoard to do it. *whispers* Soon

Thank you so much Siobhan @ Siobhan’s Novelties for tagging me (only two weeks ago! are you proud of me for not hoarding it with all the others?!) because this is the best tag for me. After you are done reading this post, be sure to check out Siobhan’s blog because she’s lovely and you need her content in your life.

Rules:

Imagine that you are an intrepid literary adventurer- braving the harsh bookish wilderness, traversing jungles of pages and slashing through vines of words. Where in the vast world of books would you go?

  • Write about one place mentioned in a book you wish you could visit and why.
  • List 3-5 things that you would do there.
  • Mention which souvenirs, if any, you would bring back with you.
  • Then tag some more literary explorers and please link back to the creator (Umairah @ Sereadipity) so they can see all of your adventures!

My dream bookish destination

I have been toiling over this answer for days, torn between Wonderland and the world of Caraval. I’ve always been enchanted by Wonderland and would love the opportunity to go to the Hatter’s tea party, but considering how dangerous Wonderland is… the clear answer is Caraval!

Caraval is magical and whimsical, a place where magic comes alive for but a few days. While there is danger, it is nothing like going toe to toe with the Queen of Hearts!

Things I would do

Remember, it’s only a game!

I would definitely want to be a participant in the game if for no reason other than I am incredibly competitive and love to win. I’d honestly want to explore everything: the shops and vendors, the magical locations, and just being outside under the stars.

But most definitely I’d find all the clues so that I can win.

Souvenirs

I’d really like to get a tattoo while I am there! For one thing it feels like a bad idea to take something from Caraval but for another reason I need more tattoos. I adore Dante and his tattoos, and I want more on my body.

  1. I seriously need to go read Caraval because this sounds like a time! From Tattoos to shops to danger lurking in the corner–you can color me hella intrigued! Thanks for the tag Kal! Catch me hoarding this for a rainy day! ❤

  2. I like how different your answer is! I like Caraval even though I didn’t love it and I’ve seen so many people choose Hogwards or Camp Half-Blood. My wimpy ass could never be a participant in the game since I’d probably start complaining after 20 minutes. There could also be a lot of screaming 😂

    1. …I honestly didn’t even think of Hogwarts, and I think that might say a lot about me as a person. You’d have to be careful to remember that it is just a game… but you could always just be a spectator!

  3. OMG this tag is 100% on brand for you, Kal! also nice job not hoarding it, I am in awe.

Wonderland is a childhood favorite of mine but I think I’d pick Caraval too! (well between the two; I’d pick the titular Night Circus above everything else 😜 though come to think of it there are more than a few similarities between it and Caraval!) unlike you I’d probably play it safe and just spectate rather than play, but I’d definitely love to explore and see what kind of story was being told this round – and a tattoo is such a fitting souvenir! though, again playing it safe, I’d probably wait until afterwards and get a commemorative one because I don’t really want to know what Caraval tattooists would charge for their services 🤔

    1. Thank you for validating my brand and aesthetic, hahaha!

Wonderland was honestly the first place that came to mind for me, but the danger kind of outweighed the good for me. (I still need to re-read Night Circus.) I think it would be cool to spectate for sure… I almost wish that there was a spectator perspective in the books so you could get a feel of what it is like to not be a player or participant. HAHAHA, my tattoo would probably cost something like an inch off my height.

  4. I didn’t know you have tattoos – that’s super cool! (I’m just realising that logically why would I? 😂

  5. Oooh I haven’t read Caraval, but from the things i’ve read from there it would certainly be a awesome place to visit! I have to admit I still haven’t read the trilogy, but I might be buddyreading it with Sam sometime soon!

Thank you for tagging me, I’ll definitely won’t be hoarding this for a long time, though I want to find an original place, not like Velaris or The Shire (which were honestly my first thoughts when reading this post), not that it’s bad, I just want to – oooooh I just thought of an awesome place! You’ll need to wait until I do this tag though 😉

  6. This is a super fun Tag!! I will definitely do this one. I agree with Caraval it would be so much fun with all the magic and tricks. And a tattoo would be a great idea 😄💛

  7. I always go with Hogwarts because like my other absolute faves tend to be Dystopias and thanks but no thanks, also Wonderland has always terrified me (I see past your questions you super creepy caterpillar) but I would totally love to go drink tea with the Hatter!
