My Pondathon TBR & Sign-Up Post!
Friends, I am so incredibly excited because today marks the beginning of the Pondathon! I have a complicated relationship with TBRs, but considering I signed up for Team Varian (reading in different genres), I thought it would be beneficial to look through my books and choose an array of titles in different genres to choose from for maximum points.
Plus, I wanted to spread the word about this super unique, story-driven readathon that my dear buddies over at The Quiet Pond have put together. There’s still plenty of time to sign up and join the battle!
What is the Pondathon?
The Pondathon is a co-operative and story-driven readathon hosted and run by CW from The Quiet Pond. The aim of the Pondathon is to read books and collect points to protect the friends over at The Quiet Pond from the encroaching malevolent forces that threaten our friends in the forest.
Have fun participating in the Pondathon readathon by joining one of five teams, each with a unique way to collect points and signing up! You can also follow the story of the Pondathon as it unfolds, and participants can also complete ‘side quests’ during the readathon to collect extra points. The readathon takes place from January 24th 2020 to March 7th 2020. More information about the readathon can be found here.
My Pond Character
I’m Pennedgwen, Consumer of Words and Champion of the Enlightened.
I’m honestly the bookish type and more comfortable fighting with words than weapons. But when I heard about what was going on at The Quiet Pond, I knew that I had to help.
The pen is mightier than the sword, but I have no trouble sending my arrows through evil to protect my friends.
My Pondathon TBR
I have a very complicated relationship with TBRs. Whenever I set them, I want to read anything but what is on them! So this is more of a guide for me… recommendations of ARCs and books on my owned-TBR that I think I’d like to read in the next month.
The list is huge because I had no sense control and have like 15 ARCs to read through March (why am I like this?!), so in the interest of space I have a spreadsheet.
Do we have any books in common? Have you read any of these yet?
Are you participating in the Pondathon? If so, please link me to your sign-up posts or TBRs in the comments!
Let’s go on another /adventure together!

January 23, 2020 at 9:27 PMGood luck with your TBR, Kal 🙂 I am not participating in this readathon for now as I am not in place to read much. But I am so excited to see everyone’s progress. Also that Rin Chupeco’s book is supposed to be “Wicked As You WIsh”, right?
Kal
February 16, 2020 at 6:47 PMThank you so much, Sim! I am glad to be in a position to read right now, and honestly the side quests have kept me motivated to try reading during a slump. And you’re right, that was fixed shortly after posting oops!

January 23, 2020 at 11:13 PMGood luck! ALL THE STARS AND TEETH, KINGDOM OF BACK, and THE ELECTRIC HEIR are all on my Pondathon TBR, too. 😊

February 16, 2020 at 6:48 PMThank you so much, Holly, and good luck to you as well! I read (and loved) All the Stars and Teeth, and think I will be reaching for TEH soon!

January 23, 2020 at 11:30 PMThe pondathon is quite a long readathon so a long tbr to pick from is totally justified haha
Kal
February 16, 2020 at 6:49 PMYou know what, you’re right! It is a long one, and especially since my team gets bonuses from genre hopping, this makes sense to me.

January 25, 2020 at 2:21 PMahhhh Pennedgwen is fiercely adorable, and I love the punny name! 😍 of your TBR I’ve only read The Grace Year (which I thought was unsettling in the best way), but I’m particularly looking forward to Wicked As You Wish and Anna & the Moonlight Road.
honestly I relate to avoiding my TBR, I picked Team Gen because I have so many backlist books (especially considering my #Startonyourshelfathon TBR) and suddenly I am extra interested in ARCs again oops 😅
Kal
February 16, 2020 at 11:57 PMFun fact: Pennedgwen was a username that I used back in 2008 and wished that my name was Gwen to make the pun even more fun lol. I am really happy to hear you enjoyed The Grace Year, unsettling in the best way sounds right up my alley.
I swear, as soon as I make ANY KIND of a TBR or decide I am going to focus on my owned books/ARCs, that’s the last thing I want to read. My brain is freaking stupid lol

January 25, 2020 at 6:30 PMI love your TBR! Definitely want to see your thoughts on The Grace Year because I loved it <3 And ofc ourse, even I need to get through the two books after This Mortal Coil. Maybe we can buddy read All The Stars and Teeth & Wicked As You Wish since I need to read the ARCs of those two.
Kal
February 17, 2020 at 1:59 PMAhhh, I am even more excited for The Grace Year since you loved it! I might have to put on the audiobook while I play video games later… I have been struggling with reading lately. I missed out on the ATSAT opportunity, but would love to buddy read Wicked As You Wish with you if we can make it happen!

January 26, 2020 at 7:51 PMPennedgwen, I love it! It looks difficult to pronounce but it is fun to say, haha. My pond character is Kyrian. Here’s my sign up post: http://fallingletters.ca/2020/01/pondathon-sign-up.html

February 17, 2020 at 2:05 PMHonestly, I really enjoy saying Pennedgwen. I really wish my name was Gwen (or that I had the foresight to use an alias for blogging) so I could use this moniker.
Charvi
January 30, 2020 at 8:37 PMI’m taking part in the Pondathon too 😀
Team Gen! Good luck with your TBR. I see that we’re trying the same methods to conquer our TBRs. You’re working on your ARC stack and I’m working on my backlist stack lol.
Kal
February 17, 2020 at 3:01 PMI hope you are enjoying the Pondathon as much as I am, Charvi! ARC reading worked well for awhile… but now I don’t want to read any of them oops lol
