My Love/Hate Relationship with Book Boxes

Book boxes have exploded in the bookish world, creating a vibrant market for special editions of books and merchandise for your favorite fandoms. From OwlCrate to Fairyloot and everything in-between, the market is saturated with options for every type of bibliophile. But what if I told you that despite buying the occasional book box, I kind of hate them?

This month’s Bookish Banter discussion is all about my love and hate relationship with book boxes, and dives into why I’m inevitably always disappointed yet continue to buy them on occasion. (I contain multitudes.)

Why I Love Morally Gray Characters

We all have certain fiction tropes which instantly make a book a little more interesting. I’m a simple lady: tell me that a book involves time travel or morally gray characters and it will be shoved onto my TBR with glee.

This post was inspired (a year ago lol) by Sophie @ Me and Ink’s The Morally Gray Discussion.

I have a confession to make: I hoard not only tags but also post ideas. I have over 300 posts in varying levels of completion just waiting to be released into the world. I have a lot of ideas but limited time and energy, so my patrons have taken control and vote on my monthly discussion topics for the blog. Be sure to check out Sophie’s blog and give her some love for sparking this topic!

The Most Emotional Books I’ve Read

Patreon Adventures where the topic is decided by my Patrons over on Patreon. Once a month I add an extra post to my schedule, and it could be about anything.

It’s been awhile since the last Patreon Adventure and for that I am sorry! One of my biggest goals for 2020 is to remain committed to this particular series because it is so much fun to have some content driven by the people who visit!

This month we are talking about EMOTIONAL BOOKS. The books that made me FEEL ALL THE THINGS, both positive and negative! Many thanks to Destiny @ Howling Libraries for suggesting this post topic and to my patrons for casting your votes!

Going on a Patreon Adventure: The Story of the Hotel del Coronado

Going on a Patreon Adventure is a series where the topic is decided by my Patrons over on Patreon. Once a month I add an extra post to my schedule, and it could be about anything.

Greetings friends and Happy Halloween! It’s my literal favorite day of the year, and I am celebrating the day watching horror movies and trying to finish one more book before the month ends. I am sad that spooky season is ending, but I am spooky 24/7/365.

This month my patrons voted for me to talk about the haunted Hotel del Coronado and my experiences when I worked there in 2006. The Hotel Del has long since been one of my favorite places in San Diego because of it’s Victorian architecture, but it got infinitely cooler when I learned it was haunted. All photos in this post were taken by me.

Going on a Patreon Adventure: My Avian War Origin Story (I was chased by a flock of seagulls)

Greetings friends and welcome to Patreon Adventures where the topic is decided by my Patrons over on Patreon. Once a month I add an extra post to my schedule, and it could be about anything.

If you’ve been around for awhile, chances are you’ve seen one of my storytime posts. Most of which involving birds and their conspiracy against me. This month my patrons demanded another tale of woe of this Kaleena and her avian foe.
