I’m Kal… a thirty-something California gal who absolutely loves reading, travel, hiking, tea, video games, and unicorns. I enjoy strong female characters and anti-heroes, and when not engrossed in a book can be found communing with nature. 🌲
As long as I can remember I have always loved reading, and I am sure that you can say the same! After decades only reading books of “significant literary merit,” I expanded my horizons while backpacking in South America with free Kindle books and found excitement with new worlds thought up in sci-fi novels and the way they explore religious themes, good murder mysteries that rival crime procedural dramas on television, philosophy that feed my soul, and everything in between.

I don’t think any of us expected to love This Mortal Coil as much as we did or to fall so hard for a ship (especially me, the reader with a heart of stone). But fall we did and the experience was so much fun that we decided to do at least monthly group reads together and we chose a name to honor our start because we are hella extra.
