It’d been nearly six weeks of a reading slump and I was getting desperate. One night towards the end of June, I read the opening pages of no less than 8 books in an effort to find a story that would pull me into it’s narrative. Book after book grated on me for one reason or another (my brain is so difficult to please when shackled by The Slump), but then I opened The Luminous Dead.
I’m a sucker for any occasion to reflect and mid-year is an excellent time to check-in on progress and reassess goals. July 2 was the official midpoint of the year, which means that it is the perfect time for the 2022 Mid-Year Reading Check in and tag!

When I read and adored Tokyo Ever after last year, I didn’t know it would become a series. Let me tell you: I was so excited to find out about Tokyo Dreaming and happy to get back to these characters! I have so much for for Izumi and Akio and the world she found herself thrust into, and it was interesting to see the other side of the glitz and glamor (although sad, too).
Holy hell, Dead End Girls was GOOD. This audiobook kept me engaged and I devoured it in two sittings (also the audiobook narration is INCREDIBLE). This book is twisty and bonkers and beautiful all rolled into one, and I cannot wait to own a copy for my bookshelves!
