November Book Haul // I went overboard on Black Friday
All of my Black Friday purchases have finally arrived and it is time for my embarrassingly large haul for November! I am incredibly fortunate to finally be in the financial position to build the personal library that I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl… and I definitely went a little overboard in November. Before I get into the haul, I do want to reiterate that you do not need to buy and own a lot of books in order to be considered a book blogger or lover. I am quite frugal with everything else so that I can buy them!
The majority of these books I got on BookOutlet for incredibly cheap, which stretches the money I set aside for books further. YAY! But since I have no self control I now have Book Outlet and Book Depository blocked via a Chrome extension, haha. But without further adieu, let’s see what I added to my shelves in November!

December 18, 2018 at 9:27 AMOmg omg what a great haul… I loved it… In my country, we didn’t much deals on books…
I am eager to read Kendare Blake
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:19 AMThank you, Shalini! I was really fortunate to nab some excellent online sales… and not have to leave my house! I was really disappointed with the Book Depository “Black Friday sale” and the only books I got from there were the Harry Potter books and Trail of Lightning.
Do you have access to good online shops for books where you live?
Shalini
December 19, 2018 at 8:10 AMAmazon is my go to place for all my books… Since I don’t read many physical books, amazon works well for me… But I get deals on books by Indian authors not international ones…. So black Friday deals were not good for me
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 23, 2018 at 8:52 AMThe Amazon book sales on Black Friday didn’t look that great from what I saw, at least on the US site. I was hoping to nab a few Kindle copies for books I’ve been wanting to read. I am glad Amazon mostly works for you, though!
Kayla @ Books and Blends
December 18, 2018 at 9:32 AMWow, Kaleena!! I need to go book shopping with you!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:19 AMYES we would fill many a bag with the books! I have no self control and it is kind of a problem.
Kayla @ Books and Blends
December 19, 2018 at 7:34 AMI’m the same way!!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:50 AMI feel like a shopping excursion for us would literally be a giant Enable Fest, LOL
Kayla @ Books and Blends
December 22, 2018 at 1:48 PMIt really would! I would be saying “treat yo self!” the whole time lol!

December 18, 2018 at 9:48 AMThis is an amazing haul😍😍

December 19, 2018 at 7:19 AMThank you!

December 18, 2018 at 10:46 AMOh my! Great haul <3
I read the Woman in Cabin 10 during summer. I really enjoyed it. Had some Agatha Christie vibes i found really cool.
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:21 AMThank you Norrie!
And yay I am glad you enjoyed it! I saw a few positive reviews for one of her other books during the summer and thought this sounded interesting when I came across it for $3 on BookOutlet.
Becca Leighanne (Bex)
December 18, 2018 at 11:33 AMI can’t wait for us to read ‘My Lady Jane’! ALSO, major props for that H.P. Lovecraft!!
This is a beautiful haul! I’m glad you’re able to have the library that you deserve, m’love!
Nerd Narration
December 18, 2018 at 11:47 AMI figured I’d respond to Becca’s comment for a reason that will make itself clear by point 2:
1) How the HELL have we never discussed that you’re my Slytherin sister?? Here I was thinking I was all alone in the common room…lol
2) Just making a list because I feel like we should at some point (despite the fact that we could probably just name anything on our shelves and find a match)…but yeah Scythe, My Lady Jane, Three Dark Crowns, This Savage Song, Invictus, Reble of the Sands, Roar, If We Were Villains, Girls of Paper and Fire, Jade City, and Sawkill Girls…just saying…
3) So proud of you for sharing b/c this is epic and fun and the kind of content I love to read!!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:27 AMThis is the epitome of SQUAD GOALS and I am here for it.
FELLOW SLYTHERIN YAAAASSSS!
Holy poop we got so many in common and it makes my heart soar at all the future buddy reads! Plus, tackling that owned TBR is so rewarding for me!
Nerd Narration
December 19, 2018 at 7:32 AMRight? I’m trying to find lots of reading challenges that help push me into my backlist AND ARCs with timed conditions. I feel like that helps. Also buddy reads because then I’m forced to be accountable lol!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:52 AMI’ve gotten fairly good with balancing my ARC requests to no more than 4 releases per month, which gives me plenty of time for backlists…. which is good because the squad has so many in common it makes buddy reading easy!
Nerd Narration
December 19, 2018 at 10:11 AMNice! 2019 is all about me getting more organized in my bookish/blogging and REAL life lol. Your spreadsheet and BRs are sure going to help with that! <3
Becca Leighanne (Bex)
December 19, 2018 at 10:57 AMYESSS. I don’t have If We Were Villains, but it’s a definite need! I love our squad!
Nerd Narration
December 19, 2018 at 2:06 PMThe love is mutual ❤️
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:22 AMAhhh I know, so many buddy reads for us to have and it makes me so happy, love! I AM EXCITED FOR LOVECRAFT. It’s been ages since I read anything and I have wanted to be more well versed. Couldn’t pass it up!
Thank you so much, love! The good news is that to make room I am unhauling a good amount of my books to donate to my local library, so it is a win/win really.
Becca Leighanne (Bex)
December 19, 2018 at 10:58 AMGosh, SAME about Lovecraft! I definitely want to be well versed in his work & Poe’s!
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you have two positives when it comes to your book haul! <3
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 23, 2018 at 8:55 AMPoe is legit my favorite author *screams* I have a complete works of his that’s battered to hell.
brittanythebookguru
December 18, 2018 at 11:36 AMOh my goodness… so many books! I’m so jealous!! Book hauls are one of my favorite things to read (or watch on Booktube). I recognize a few of these, but there were a lot that I haven’t heard of yet. Can’t wait to see all of your thoughts!!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:23 AMI KNOWWW I went overboard and am actually so embarrassed by all the books I bought! But I do like reading/watching hauls to see what people are picking up.
Vera
December 18, 2018 at 1:14 PMHe he, loving the blocking idea. I need to do this to Amazon as I have been recently a bit casual with clicking on this and that and it’s getting a little bit out of control.
Lovely collection you got though. I have My Lady Jane on my shelf and am looking forward to reading it sometime soon too.
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:28 AMBlocking have saved my bank account so much, I have recently added Barnes and Noble to the list as I keep pre-ordering books, oops. I should probably add Amazon too, because this weekend was intense with Kindle deals!
Thank you so much, and I hope you enjoy it when you read it!

December 18, 2018 at 1:16 PMI love your disclaimer at the beginning that you do not need to buy or own a lot of books to be a book blogger and/ or book lover. Thank you for that. I happen to be someone who does own what I consider to be a lot of books, but I know there are bloggers and ‘grammers who own WAY more than I do. That all being said, its a commitment and a process. Sometimes we get lucky and find deals and get big hauls like this one. Sometimes its one a month if even that. Just my initial reaction. 🙂
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:33 AMThank you so much for sharing your thoughts, and I definitely feel like that disclaimer is important for me to have because I don’t want to make anyone feel bad or less of a blogger. I am definitely in a different place in my life than some other bloggers (in my 30s and have a career), so I can afford to splurge now and then since I don’t spend my money on much else. And yes, some months I buy only a handful of books… or none!
Isabelle
December 18, 2018 at 1:32 PMoh my that’s a looooooot of books 📚 happy reading!

December 18, 2018 at 1:52 PMOh Wow! I want to be Kaleena when I grow up 😛

December 19, 2018 at 7:34 AMI hope so too… and that I find the time to read them all!

December 18, 2018 at 8:00 PMMagnificent haul!! The Silent Companions is sooo good, and yay for Firefly!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:35 AMThank you! I am really looking forward to reading Silent Companions, I almost picked it up last night but went for Trail of Lightning instead (which is AMAZING). I started Firefly last month and am 90 pages in; loving it so far but I can only juggle one sci-fi at a time and I had to switch gears for a bit. Which is fine because that is a book I want to savor.

December 18, 2018 at 8:37 PMOmg😍 i want to grab all the books

December 19, 2018 at 1:41 AMOmg I love how many books you bought!! Good on you lmao! I really hope you love If We Were Villains, thats such an incredible book! I also have Girls of Paper and Fire, I can’t wait to read it! Here’s hoping we both like it! 💕
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:36 AMThank you so much, and I have heard such amazing things about If We Were Villains and Malanie essentially was screaming about it to me the other day, so I am STOKED! Happy reading!
Catarina @ Pages & Plots
December 19, 2018 at 2:55 AMI’m so damn jealous of all these books, you have no idea! Unfortunately, Book Depository didn’t had a lot of Black Friday discounts so I ended up not getting anything D:
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:37 AMUgh Book Depository’s Black Friday “sale” was kind of crap, I am so sorry that you weren’t able to take advantage of sales like I was. 🙁
Kathy @ Books & Munches
December 19, 2018 at 3:38 AMTHAT HAUL. <3
Now I feel less bad about mine – HA. [Although that's the December one.. so.. ugh.. we'll see.]
Girls of Paper and Fire and Illuminae though. <3 Hope you end up loving those!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:48 AMHahaha yea everyone’s Black Friday/November hauls seem to be in good company for those that have the expendable income. My December one is much better although I went a little crazy with Kindle deals over the weekend.
I just finished Illuminae on Monday and HOLY POOP. It is soooo good! Starting Gemina tonight!
Kathy @ Books & Munches
December 20, 2018 at 12:59 AMWe don’t really have Black Friday over here so I skipped that.. But with the boyfriend allowing me one “final huge splurge” book-wise before the little one is born.. Like.. I went nuts, okay. xD
I haven’t succumbed to Kindle deals! [yet..]
YAAAY! You’ll fly through them for sure then, haha

December 19, 2018 at 7:08 AMThis is the most epic book haul I’ve ever seen!! You should be, at once, both proud and ashamed of yourself LOL
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 19, 2018 at 7:48 AMHAHAHAHAHA, oh believe me I am equal parts ashamed and proud!

Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 23, 2018 at 8:54 AMThank you, Marie, and I am glad you enjoyed those books because I am really excited about all of them! I will be busy reading my physical TBR for quite some time, hehe!

December 19, 2018 at 3:25 PMI’ve read a couple of these this year like Illuminae and Daughter of the Pirate King – great fun reads. I hope you enjoy them!!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 23, 2018 at 9:03 AMI read Illuminae already and absolutely LOVED IT! Such an amazing read and I can’t believe I sat on the trilogy for so long. Excited to read Daughter of the Pirate King and I am glad you enjoyed it!

December 23, 2018 at 9:10 AMThank you so much, I definitely went a little overboard but I am excited to read these books!

December 20, 2018 at 9:20 AMWow that is a lot of books!!! I am super jealous! I should have gone book shopping on Black Friday! I love the HP editions you got (tho I’m a Ravenclaw 😉 )
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 23, 2018 at 9:12 AMI paid full BD price for those HP books, which I am ashamed to admit! Once I went bonkers on BookOutlet I bought 3 books I really wanted but weren’t on sale. I do love the house editions of HP a lot!
Avery @ RedRocketPanda
December 20, 2018 at 3:18 PMDAMN, what a haul haha. I’ll see you in March 2019 when you unearth yourself from this monster pile 😉 I hope you enjoy all of these <3
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 24, 2018 at 8:38 AMI think March 2019 is a little optimistic given my current track record, but I hope I enjoy these as well! The couple I have already read I have absolutely adored.
Christine
December 20, 2018 at 5:58 PMWAHAHAHAHA! BLACK FRIDAY GOT US ALL lol. Instead of books, though, I bought tons of blogging tools like stock photos. Much needed and SO cheap. I did buy some books for presents. I loved Scythe–let me know what you think once you read it too. Girls of Paper and Fire were/are in my neglected Netgalley queue. I am so behind I don’t even know if my time has passed on it. Thanks for sharing your haul, and holy a gazillion comments on your posts. GO YOU!!! Love ya, book bestie!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 24, 2018 at 8:54 AMWow you were SMART with your Black Friday shopping! I literally thought of nothing but books, my eyes only saw books. Stock photos is such a good idea, though! I am really looking forward to Scythe, and I will DM you once I pick it up; I love Neal Shusterman so I am pretty stoked. I hope you are still able to read your ARC of Girls! I think so long as you downloaded it you can still read & review after it archives. xoxxo book bestie!

December 20, 2018 at 8:32 PMThank you for the heads up on The Woman in White being free!! That one has been on my TBR for a while! Low key jelly of your new Shirley Jackson book, she has become one of my favorite authors this past year! Also big hype that you got Now I Rise, I absolutely love that series and still need to read the third book! Amazing haul, you’ll be busy for a while!
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 24, 2018 at 9:05 AMAhhh you’re welcome, I was so excited when I checked and nabbed it… and then I added on the audio for 99 cents after getting the ebook (I’ve heard it’s full cast, and I love reading along). I need to read more Shirley Jackson and was so excited to get this book! I actually now own the entire series and haven’t read it yet oops. SOON!

I want to know your thoughts on Scythe! I read that recently and loved it 😀
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
December 24, 2018 at 9:17 AMI think I can hear you cheering in the distance, thank you for your support haha!
I’ll be sure to give you a poke when I get around to reading that one!
