Danielle @ Books, Vertigo, and Tea and Kate @ Backwards Bookshelf both tagged me in this super fun tag last month awhile ago and I am so excited to finally get around to doing it! Be sure to check out these lovely ladies’ blogs because they are awesome!

Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
Tag a few people to do this too!
AUTO-APPROVED: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they are about?
Kurt Vonnegut is the one author that I would read anything he wrote, but since he passed away in 2007 I have think I have read nearly everything. As far as current authors, Tomi Adeyemi and Lindsay Buroker are both on this list.
REQUEST: What makes you want to request a book on NetGalley?
I’ll admit that I don’t often look through the books that are listed there anymore, I generally go looking for a book in particular. BUT when I do, it is all about the covers initially! I look at what’s available in my preferred genres and read the synopses of the books that catch my eye.
FEEDBACK RATIO: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?
I review every book that I finish, but I do not write public reviews for books that I do not finish reading unless I found them problematic and felt strongly that I needed to share my experience. Because books can slow burn, I try to give it at least 30-40% before deciding to DNF. I am currently trying to catch up to my NG backlog before more approvals come in and ruin my feedback ratio lol
BADGES: If you could create one badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?
Diverse reads, for sure! I need to make more of a conscious effort to read more diversely and work a bit harder on my around the world reading challenge!
WISH FOR IT: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?
Grim Lovelies by Meg Shepard. I legit would sell my soul for an ARC of this book but have settle for pre-ordering it and anxiously waiting until September.
2018 NETGALLEY CHALLENGE: What was the last ARC that you reviewed?
Mirage by Somaiya Daud is my most recent NG review, but that post is coming on the 21st of this month so I suppose Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart.
Ha! I’m with you 100% on Grim Lovelies. Being so new and having such a small following, I would have been shocked to get a copy, but I was still a little sad when my request was declined. I can’t wait for it to come out. 🙂
Ooooh, love your answers! I think maybe I’ve told you this, but I also frequently opt out of posting public reviews for DNF titles. If you ever notice a book mysteriously disappear from my Goodreads shelves altogether after I have an ARC of it, that’s always why. 😂😂😂
Thank you so much, Destiny! And yea I usually don’t publicly review titles I DNF either unless it was problematic. I am going to watch your shelves like a hawk!
My Net Galley backlog is embarrassing lol I’m really working on it though, plus all the physical ARCs that I have and the other non-NG arcs. I’m not accepting anything new because I literally have 100. Or a bit over that. I feel bad that I was that impulsive at accepting them but hey, that’s what I get for being an unsupervised new book blogger haha
I know EXACTLY what you mean, it is so easy to get yourself into a messy backlog when you are new and super excited!!! Over 100 would give me a heart attack though, lol. I have widdled my ARC backlog to just under 20 and almost feel like I can breathe again. Good luck!
I am an anxious mess alright haha but everytime I get to finish one is such a relief, until I look at the remaining ones 😂 we’ll get it under control, someday!
A diverse badge does sound lovely 💓 this tag is one I haven’t felt the courage to do cause my NG ratio is the thing of nightmares 🙈😂but I’m also whittling away at the backlog & personally staying away from the request button 🤞🏼Happy reading! 💜
I honestly probably wouldn’t have wanted to do the tag if my ratio weren’t above 80% so I definitely feel you there, but based on the comments here I don’t think you are alone! Good luck reining in the request impulses!
That was an amazing feedback ratio Kaleena, I’m amazed by how well you manage your time between reading, blogging, review, and playing video games LOL! I also want to sell my soul for Grim Lovelies, I’ve heard great things about it!! 💕💕
Thank you so much Carolina, I have obsessively kept my ratio above 80% frantically for like 3 months now as I wait for NetGalley to FIX THE BROKEN BADGE. It’s stressful when books get approved but I have been a lot more selective with the request button lately. And scheduling posts ahead of time & saving reviews for bad reading months helps a lot with keeping up with my blog – I don’t game as much as I would like these days.
That’s a very useful strategies. I stop requesting ARC when my feedback ratio was below 60%!! I always procarastinate to write a review, by the time I find the perfect time to write it I already forgot what I want to write LOL
I totally agree about judging the cover first. If the cover doesn’t appeal to me I normally don’t find myself interested in the book at all. The cover is there for a reason, make me want to read the book!!
Thank you for making me feel better about judging books by their covers! It’s a marketing tool and with there being SO MANY BOOKS it’s a way to widdle through all of them.

Haha! I’m in good company 🤷🏻♀️ we can’t help ourselves with that request button 🙈😂 but I’m getting there slowly but surely 💕
Thank you for the tag! Looks like so much fun!!
P.S. Jelly of your feedback ratio…mine is terrible..
Thank you and I can’t wait to see your answers!
I loved all your answers, Kaleena!!!
Thank you so much, Kayla!

Hahaha yea I have to write my reviews right away of I am screwed; but I do take extensive notes while reading which helps!
I think I’m gonna try write my thoughs on note when I’m reading! Thank you for your advice!!
You’re welcome and I hope that helps!

What an awesome tag! Great answers, for me Rick Riordan is my auto-buy author and I judge covers hard 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by, and I haven’t read anything by Rick Riordan yet – any recommendations?!
Oh, so many! Just start with the Percy Jackson series and work through the rest of his series in publication order!
