One of my favorite “getting to know you” kind of games is Two Truths and a Lie; it is the far superior icebreaker games out there because you not only get to learn some fun new things about people but you also get to see how creative they can be! Who wants to answer twenty boring questions or participate in awkward free-falling activities when you can play this game?! No one, I tell you!
This tag idea has been sitting in my drafts since August when I read The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager. I thought it would be fun to start a bookish tag version of the game, so let’s get started with the lies!
Feel free to use this image in your posts if you wish!
How to Participate
Create a post with your two bookish truths and one bookish lie – but be sure to keep it a secret so your readers can guess!
Reveal the lie in a spoiler at the bottom of your post (you can use this HTML code!)
Yes, this is more than eight bloggers; I make the rules and I break the rules! 😋
What do you think my life is and why? Answer in the comments below and check to see if you guessed correctly under the spoiler!
REVEAL THE LIE
#2! Sadly I spent my childhood without Harry Potter, I know tragic. I am so jealous of those younger than me that got to grow up with that series! I didn’t read it until I was 30 years old 😱
damn! I guessed wrong xD
Im gonna start thinking of my 3 sentences now ahaha, gonna publish it sometime in January as my December is only missing my Bujo post xx
I love this SO much, and I guessed it right! GAHAHA. How fun! I spent my childhood without HP as well (34 in the house), and I stopped reading by book 2 or 3 the first time. Shocking, I know. I picked the series back up once J.K. wrote all books and for some reason, liked them much better on that round. Thanks for sharing this cute post idea!
Yay for guessing it right, and since we are roughly the same age that makes sense! I didn’t even know they were a thing until I was 19 years old working in Suncoast and had to play one of the movies in the store and we started selling the most recent book release. I actually didn’t read any until I was 30 years old, though! And consider yourself TAGGED if you want to play, love!
Oh, i got it wrong!
Remember one of them being true cuz you mentioned it not so long ago, but i must say your lie surprised me cuz i was like “surely that’s true” 😀
I know, how crazy! To be fair I was like 14 when it was first published and at that point I was well on my reading only classics phase. The books didn’t even cross my radar until I was like 19 when the last book was published but by then I was kind of meh. I am a fan of it now, though!
Nice post! It is never too late to get into the world of HP! Though I do look very fondly on my HP experience when I was younger. I keep hearing about “book snobs” on Internet and did not even know before such an expression existed. To be fair, when I end up reading books of “significant literary merit” I tend to love them the most and continue to read them. I don’t think that qualifies for book snobbery because I read other books too. I overall think that is a rather insulting term to signify those who just prefer certain types of books.
Never too late, indeed! I really wish I was a smidge younger, because I was outside of the main demographic by the time it was published and not reading books like that anymore. It would have been so magical! But it was just as magical to fall in love when I was 30 years old, too. hehe
Oh, I was a total book snob and I don’t think it is insulting to call myself one. I used the phrase here to describe MY outlook on reading, and even then, I didn’t judge people for the books that they chose to read; I just judged myself. I still read classics and books of “significant literary merit”

Love this! (also, I guessed correctly)
I am so proud of you Hannah, congrats on spotting the lie!!!
I thought the lie was #1 simply because I’d never remember the first book I DNFed😂
HAHAHA that is actually such a good reason to think it was a lie, honestly! Unfortunately, it was 2002 and I still remember it vividly. Grrr
I KNEW it was #2!!! I’m so proud of myself!! 😂 I love this TAG, btw!!!
Congratulations on spotting the lie, and I am so glad that you like the tag! Feel free to do it if you would like!

Woo hoo, congrats on spotting the lie Shruti!
Thank you, and consider yourself tagged if you want to play along!
I’m gonna make a calculated guess that it’s no.2! Cuz it seems the most straight forwardly written of the 3 and potentially shocking to Potter fans.
And omg, I FINALLY found a code I can use for spoilers!!!!! 🙆🙆💃Thank youuuuuuu!
You’re welcome!
😱😱😱
😏😁😁
Ahhh, this is SUCH a fun tag idea!! Thank you for tagging me and way to go! ♥ And I actually DID guess correctly, go me!
I am so glad you like this tag, and good job guessing the lie! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Oh, i got it wrong!
Remember one of them being true cuz you mentioned it not so long ago, but i must say your lie surprised me cuz i was like “surely that’s true” 😀
Muahahaha, my lie claims another victim!
I figured it was that one too. I didn’t get to it til a little later too. 😀
Woo hoo, I am not alone in being late to that party!
I guessed it right, haha! 😀 I guess, when someone does mention something that’s wayyy common, I kinda get suspicious 😉
This idea is so much fun, btw!
Good job guessing it correctly! And thank you, consider yourself tagged if you want to play along!
Completely off-topic but I love your blog’s color scheme <3
Aww thank you so much, I am glad you like it as much as I do!

Hehehe which did you think was the lie?!
Gaaasp. I can’t believe you lived a Harry-Potter-less childhood lol. Are you a fan of it now?
Also, so you’re the one who started this tag on the blog-o-sphere! Nice to meet you, Kaleena!

Nice to meet you as well, Jade!
So cool that this thing you started is still going nearly two months later!
Haha thank you so much, it’s really cool to see everyone’s truths & lies!
